| jun-2010 A start has been made to mount two new larger solar panels. If necessary a third panel can be added later. The additional control electronics will be installed over the next few months. Capacity experiments will be conducted during the winter period to ensure that the weather station power is also ensured during darker periods. |
| oct-2009 The meteo server in the Netherlands was replaced by an Ultra-low-energy NetTop PC. Apart from some very short interruptions, the switch was probably not noticed by the users of the site. |
| feb-2009 The solar watchdog device was made more reliable to improve the up-time of the site further. The average mean time between failures is now better than one month. |
| aug-2008 The installation now works completely on 12 volts - including the Adsl modem and the WiFi router. In addition version 7 of the MeteoGrayan database was released. |
| feb-2007 A new ultra low-power PC was installed in France. In due course this will allow the deployment of the 12 Volt solar installation for powering of all essential devices. |
| nov-2006 The stations' PC breaks down completely and is replaced temporarily by another one. |
| apr-2006 Due to the harsh ocean climate the sensors of the station experience frequent hick-ups. Usually this is cause by electronic contact problems. It happened in the past to the UV-sensor and the outside humidity sensor. For this reason the station's motherboard was replaced by a newer, more rugged, type. |
| feb-2006 The development of a watchdog device to control the data collection and transmission process of the weather station has been completed and was tested for a month. The results were highly satisfactory. |
| jun-2005 The ADSL connection appears to be stable enough to support hourly updates of observations 24 hours a day. There are still worries about its unattended use over extended periods. An uninterruptible power supply (UPS) has been added and a solar-powered watchdog is under development. |
| apr-2005 The transfer of the vdklugt.com site to meteoGrayan.com has completed. The old site is from now on used for different (private) purposes. |
| mar-2005 An ADSL connection has been established from the French site with internet using Wanadoo (now Orange). |
